Adoption Day!!!!!!!

Image
First thing this morning, Foster Mom announced that today could be the day I get my forever home. Hmmm...I'm good with just staying here, but Foster Mom sounded really excited and said a forever home is even better than here! She said she wanted to get a photo of me with my Foster Sisters - Janey and Ellie - in case this is my last day with them. After lunch, Foster Mom said that Stephen & Alex & their greyhound Jewel were on their way from Wilmington. OK, I'm waiting patiently. When Stephen & Alex & Jewel got to Foster Mom's house, we all walked together outside, then spent some time getting to know one another in the house. I liked Jewel and she liked me right from the start. I gave Stephen a kiss as soon as I met him and that pretty much sealed the deal! So, this is the last entry in my "BB Greyhound Comes to Bethany Beach" blog. But it's just the start of my new life with Stephen & Alex & Jewel, plus 3 kitties, 5 sugar gli

Ancestry

My Mamma's name is SE's Millie F; my Daddy's name is KC and All. That's where the first part of my racing name, SE's KC Bee Bo, came from. Foster Mom did a Google search and couldn't find any photos of my mom, but she was white & red just like me. Foster Mom DID find 2 pics of my dad. Here he is - handsome, right? I think I look like my dad. Agree? Check out those ears!

BB Goes to the Vet

Image
Yesterday, Foster Mom said I had a funky smell coming from my "girl parts" so off I went to see the doctor. The first person I met there - Vet Tech Lady - was really nice...until she stuck a thermometer in my butt! Seriously?! How rude!! Foster Mom says, "Stop it!" if I even SNIFF another dog's butt! Then I met the Vet Man. First he loved on me and said I was beautiful. I gave him my best lean and wagged my tail all happy-like - little did I know what was comin' next. Then he checked me out and said my eyes, ears, heart, lungs, joints, and feet were all really healthy but my "business end" needed some work! He asked me if I would pee in a cup - again, seriously?! When Foster Mom said I didn't know that trick, he said, "No worries, we have a Plan B," and took me into another room with another Vet Tech Lady. By the time I got back into the room with Foster Mom, I sure wished I had known how to pee in a cup! Geez, more stickin&

The Mighty Hunter

Image
While I was out walking with Foster Mom & my 2 greyhound foster sisters this afternoon, I was sniffing around in the grass and BAM, I caught me a baby mouse! Caught it all by myself! Foster Mom yelled, "Drop it!!"  I said, "No way!" Foster Mom tried to pry my jaws open. I said, "No way!" Foster Mom kept yelling but I kept holding onto my mouse - hey, I caught it, fair & square! It finally took Foster Mom & Foster Dad to pry my mouth open just wide enough to drop the mouse, and then Foster Mom pulled me away from it. No fair...it was MINE! If I can't have the mouse, can I at least have a cookie?

Don't.Like.Rain.

Foster Mom (with me under cover but standing at the gate to the yard while it's pouring down rain at 6:30am): BB, you need to go pee. BB (holding my ground & refusing to move): Nope. Not moving. Don't.Like.Rain.🌧 Foster Mom (after dragging me into the yard): BB, go pee. BB (standing in the rain like a statue): Nope. Not moving. Don't.Like.Rain. 🌧 Foster Mom: I've got all day BB. Go pee. No pee, no breakfast. BB: Nope. Still not moving. Don't.Like.Rain. Foster Mom: I WILL win this battle, BB. Go pee. BB: Sigh. Alright. I'll pee. But I STILL Don't.Like.Rain. 🌧

Sleepover

Image
Foster Mom had to go away for the day and said I couldn't go with her & my  foster sisters. She said something about another dog there who might not be too happy about a new greyhound sniffing around all her stuff & sleeping on her beds. So, I went to a dog sitter who has a greyhound named Lucy. I've met Lucy & Dogsitter Lady before at Meet & Greets and for a walk on the boardwalk but I had never been to their house. It turns out they have a nice yard and good beds. Lucy & I walked together, played together, & hung out together. Dogsitter Lady said my ball skills are getting better; I chased the ball when she threw it and even brought it back to her. I was extra good at Dogsitter Lady's house because foster dogs are always lookin' for a forever home and ya never know where ya might find one! Dogsitter Lady told Foster Mom I was a dream but I'm not, I'm a real greyhound! She said I ate all my meals, didn't whine or pace or have an

The Vacuum Cleaner

Image
Foster Mom (with the vacuum cleaner turned off): BB, I need to vacuum your dog bed. Me: But I'm really comfortable here. Not movin'. Foster Mom (with the vacuum cleaner turned on): BB, can I please vacuum your dog bed? Me: But I'm really comfortable here. Still not movin'. Foster Mom: BB, if I can't vacuum your dog bed, then I'm gonna vacuum you! Me: Whatever. STILL not movin'.

Foster Mom says the camera loves me! I say there's nothin' wrong with that!

Whatever

Image
Foster Mom: Oh BB, you are such a good girl! When you met Coco, the "store kitty" at Millville Pet Stop, you didn't try to catch her or eat her! That means you can be adopted by someone with an indoor cat! 💙 Me: Whatever. Now about those treats you bought while you were there... Foster Mom: Oh BB, sooo cute! What you're doing is called sphinx position & not all greyhounds do it! 💜 Me: Whatever. I call it waiting to eat...and I'd already be eating if you hadn't picked up that camera!   Foster Mom: Oh BB, sooo cute! What you're doing is called roaching & not all greyhounds do it!💛 Me: Whatever. I call it sleeping...and I'd still be doing it if you hadn't picked up that camera!

Learning to Play Ball

Image
In the yard this morning, Foster Mom showed me a ball with a squeaker. I LOVE squeakers! As soon as the ball started running, I chased it...because I'm a greyhound and chasing is what we do! I couldn't figure out how to make the squeaker sound come out of the ball but the chasing and catching part sure was fun! I hope we play that game again soon!

First Trip to the Beach

Image
Today Foster Mom loaded me into the Jeep - just me, no foster sisters - and took me to a place called Bethany Beach. OMGEEE!!!!! What a greyt place! There were dogs - lots of dogs - big dogs & little dogs & barky dogs & friendly dogs & not-so-friendly dogs. They sure looked different than the dogs I lived with at the track and the adoption kennel, but I was friendly and wagged my tail at every single one of them! There were people everywhere; some of them asked Foster Mom questions about me and petted me and scratched my ears - fine by me!! One lady liked me so much that she pulled out her phone & took a photo of me to show to her family. She said she used to have a dog but it died and she really wanted to wait before she got another, but she also called me sweet & gentle and petted me. She lives pretty close to Foster Mom's house so who knows, maybe I'll see her again. And there were children everywhere - in strollers, on skateboards, or just wa

Day 6

Image
Some greyhounds don't sit...but I do! The first thing I did on the long trip from West Virginia to Delaware was sit myself down right behind & between the 2 humans doing the driving so I could see out through the windshield. I had a much better view than the other 4 hounds in the van - see how smart I am? At Foster Mom's house, I sit in my crate when I finish eating.

Day 5

Image
Foster Mom says I'm starting to come out of my shell a little. I'm not real sure what she's talking about because I don't have a shell; shells are for turtles and they're slow!!🐢 I'm a racing greyhound and I'm FAST!!!!! Anyway, she seems happy that I'm starting to wag my tail more and greet people when they come into the house and play with toys more. At night, I sleep in Foster Mom & Dad's room with my two greyhound foster sisters. Last night, I really had to go to the bathroom at 3am. I figured Foster Mom wouldn't be happy about it but when ya gotta go, ya gotta go, right? So I stood at the gate to the hallway & whined until Foster Mom woke up and took me outside. Once I got into the yard, I took care of business in a hurry and then went back upstairs and went right back to sleep. Foster Mom wasn't angry at all; she said I was a good girl for letting her know and not making a mess in the house.   This afternoon, I went

Day 4

Image
My greyhound foster sisters, Janey & Ellie, have been greyt about sharing their beds, their toys, & their yard. Most of the time, I just take care of business or follow them around when Foster Mom takes us outside. But this morning, I got a little frisky and ran with them a for a little bit. Today I also perfected the "bed fail." Pretty good for my first time, right?

Spa Day

Image
Foster Mom put the rugs down in the living room & dining room today.  She says it's because I haven't had any bathroom accidents in the house. She says she thinks I'm "housebroken" but I haven't broken ANYTHING in the house! I still say YAY about the rugs because now I can stop skidding out on the slippery wood floors! This afternoon Foster Mom said I was having a spa day; she made it sound like something REALLY special! But here's a heads up... "spa day" is just a fancy way of saying BATH!!! 🛀 I got my nails trimmed, my ears cleaned, 2 shampoos and a blow dry. Ashley from Go Fetch Mobile Grooming told Foster Mom that I was a very good girl. Of course I was, cuz that's how I roll! I sure do love how I look & smell...but spa days are exhausting! I'm ready for a nap! 💤😴

New Day, New Stuff

Image
I can go up & down both flights of stairs now ALL BY MYSELF! Foster Mom and my 2 greyhound foster sisters helped me yesterday. This morning I said, "Hey, I've got this!" When we took our walk this morning, Foster Mom said I walk on-leash like I've been doing it my whole life. Well DUH, that's because I HAVE been doin' it my whole life, or at least most of it!  I'm workin' on this stuffy toy thing; I think I'm startin' to get the hang of it!

First Day in My Foster Home

Image
Greyhound tracks are flat - what the heck is this?????? There are 2 little brown furry things here - Foster Mom says they're dogs. Nuh-uh, they don't look like any dogs I've ever seen!  I had dinner in my new crate - good eats by the way!🍲 Then I took care of business out in the yard. And then I tried out this bed that was waaayyy better than the shredded newspaper in my old crate at the track! I still have a lot to learn about being a pet but I think I'll get used to this new life really fast!!!! Goodnight!💤😴

Meeting Foster Mom

Image
When Foster Mom met me at the adoption kennel, she said I was  BEE-U-TEE-FUL!!! I think I love her already! 💖

About Me

Image
Hello Bethany Beach! I'm SE's KC Bee Bo, also known as BB. Right now, I'm still living in the adoption kennel in Charleston, WV, waiting to meet my foster mom and make the trip to Delaware to start my retirement. I can't wait til Saturday when I can start learning about living in a house! I'm pretty young for "retirement" since I won't be two years old until June 1st. I raced some but it wasn't really my thing. I think I'll be a whole lot better at playing with my 2 greyhound foster sisters and my 2 dachshund foster sisters! Stay tuned for lots more about me starting this Saturday, the 24th. And if you're in the market for a fast friend, I may be exactly what you're lookin' for! Bye for now! Love, BB
